Many events and festival are hosted on this peaceful island from time to time. The Bali Spirit festival is one of them.
This celebrates yoga, art, music, and dance. It has got to be one of the most inspiring and motivational festivals in the world of tourism. This year, the festival had a theme of ‘return to the source’ which meant its return to its original beloved venue – Bali Purnati. The main attraction of the festival is how it commemorates yoga. The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root verb – ‘Yuj’ which means to yoke or join together. Yoga as we know it is a spiritual, mental and physical exercise that is said to cleanse the soul and improve health as well. Yoga’s inception occurred thousands of years ago.
Archaeologists and historians have found proof of it from drawings of yoga postures on cave walls that date back to 5000 years before. The different postures and breathing exercises of yoga help one to relax their body and mind. Meditation is also considered to be a part of this ancient exercise. The result of yoga on people’s health has been proved by many scientists as beneficial. Practicing yoga has many potential health benefits including relieving low back pain, helping with stress management and increasing balance and flexibility. Yoga is defined as having eight branches or limbs which are- Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi. There are numerous forms of yoga such as Hatha yoga, Raja yoga, Karma yoga, Bhakti yoga, Jnana yoga, Tantra yoga etc. Each of these types of yoga specializes in various fields like physical and mental health, devotion, meditation, a path to wisdom, intellect etc. Those who wanted to spectate the magnificence of yoga have gone to the Bali Spirit Festival. Newcomers who do not know anything about this spiritual exercise were also welcomed.
Bali is known to many for its beautiful landscapes and also its meditation and yoga retreats. The participants of the Spirit Festivals were not disappointed at the elegance of the event and the varieties offered in it. The event hosted various informative seminars and workshops as well. Other than that, there were many recreational activities as well; Starting from dance performances to beautiful music and yoga, the festival had it all! And it was open to people of all ages as a result became the perfect place for a family experience. Hopefully, they will arrange another spirit festival in the upcoming year.
